Using what nature gave you
Lake Washington Institute of Technology’s president, who regularly walks the campus perimeter, wanted a safe, consistent path for staff and students. SV looked past the stated ask to a bigger opportunity: using the path to express campus culture and identity, weaving in study areas and connections to LWIT's public arboretum rather than treating it as simple circulation. The route runs through dense forest on campus's west side, weighing grading, tree protection, and separation from car traffic. At the client's request, scope expanded to include an outdoor classroom, taking advantage of Seattle's many days suited to learning outside.
The project is currently on hold.
