Providing comfort for students
The University of Denver Health & Counseling Center (DU HCC) desired a more comforting entry for the students and requested a sophisticated palette that evoked spa-like qualities. The DU standard wood is honeyed oak, and the design had to integrate with its use. By selecting a palette with golden yellow, the wood base and doors were a complement to the overall palette.
Biophilia was an important tie-in requested, but live plants can come with considerable maintenance requirements. Instead, preserved moss and plants were installed in a shadow box-style frame. The biophilia presence was also reflected in the color palette, using a range of green shades.
